Long Course Team

Hi again!  Here are the official details about Long Course!!  See our FAQ under the flyer..

What is Long Course?

Long course is swum in 50 meter pools. This is the same size pool you see in the Olympics. (Full length of the CT Branin Natatorium pool)

Who should swim Long Course?

This is intended for our advanced swimmers 11 & up who can swim all 4 strokes well.  Swimmers from all teams within Central Stark County are encouraged to join this program. (You must still sign up for summer team.)

What's the difference between Long Course and regular summer team?

  • The pool is 50 meters long.
  • Meets are run in Invitational format (with many teams in attendance).
  • You choose your own individual events.
  • You pay per swim (just like invitationals during the regular season)
  • Some meets are outdoors. (Solon & Freelander)
  • Meets are multiple days long. (Some are Sat. & Sun., some meets have Fri. events)
  • Some (but not all) meets have time standards.

Can I still swim at the regular summer Y meets?

Yes, you can still swim at the regular meets (Weds nights), and most Long Course swimmers do. Long Course meets are on the weekend and do not conflict with most regular summer meets.

Do I have to go to all the days of the meets?

No, you choose your events and therefore you also control when and how much you swim. While many swimmers choose to swim both days of meets it is not required.

What is the cost?

Regular summer team registration price, plus USA Membership fees and invitational fees. There is no additional cost to register for this program.
